Charity is the foundation of Tzu Chi's missions. Volunteers visit villages, getting to know families in need – from isolated and frail elderly individuals to households struggling to meet basic needs, and even families living with cows under one roof in dilapidated homes.

Tzu Chi provides long-term assistance to improve the basic living needs of these families, addressing food, clothing, and housing issues. Volunteers also work to overcome language and cultural barriers, conducting monthly home visits to care for the physical and mental well-being of those in need. The aim is to provide support so that the elderly can live with dignity, the able-bodied can find purpose, and the young can grow and develop, becoming a source of hope for those facing difficulties.
